What Is Resisure's Mould Index?
At Resisure, we use an advanced VTT mathematical model to predict and monitor the potential for mould growth within your dwellings. Our Mould Index is a powerful tool designed to assess and indicate the risk of mould development by analysing key environmental factors. These factors include relative humidity, temperature, time, and the specific construction materials in your space.
The Mould Index operates on a scale from 0 to 6, where 0 signifies no mould growth and 6 indicates complete coverage. This index serves two critical purposes: it measures the likelihood of mould growth over time and identifies the current stage of mould development. By continuously monitoring environmental conditions, the Mould Index provides real-time insights into whether the environment in your property is conducive to mould growth. The basic premise of the index is straightforward—when humidity levels exceed a certain threshold, the potential for mould growth increases over time.
The Impact Of Damp And Mould On Tenants’ Health

This case underscores the critical importance of landlords recognising the health risks associated with damp and mould, and responding swiftly when such issues are reported. In response to this tragedy, Awaab’s Law has been enacted to establish legal safeguards aimed at preventing deaths due to damp and mould exposure.
Under Awaab’s Law, social housing landlords are now subject to strict timelines for addressing damp and mould reports. Upon receiving a report, they must begin investigations within 14 days, initiate repairs within an additional 7 days, and address emergency repairs within 24 hours. These measures are designed to enhance tenant safety and living conditions. While currently focused on social housing, the law is expected to influence the private rented sector, depending on future legislative developments.
